Questions for Fire Board Candidates

I have a couple questions of the candidates that I would like answered to the public.

1. Pohlman and McLean sent out cards in the mail with the words Accountability, Transparency, Community Safety, Community Advocacy and Community Voice. First, where is the transparency when you ask people to ask questions in private? You want people to email questions to you and the answers are not public. Also, what group are you advocating for? What is your cause?

The current Fire Board and Administration encourage the community to speak for themselves and not through unsolicited representation. As far as “Community Voice,” I have seen several times when a member of the community shows support for the District they are “attacked” on social media and bullied to the point that they no longer voice any positive opinion.

2. Next, what is your agenda?

McLean is very clear about her agenda. During a public Fire Board meeting she openly stated that she wanted to unseat the chairman of the Fire Board and to “fire the Chief.”

Pohlman had a bitter departure from the District as a volunteer a few years ago. Since that time, in the past three years what has she or any of the candidates or their families done to show support for the District?

The incumbents Gary Lewis and Connie Clark have demonstrated outstanding support for this Department both personally and professionally. The current Fire Board of Trustees has worked hard to promote a positive image and provide guidance to this Administration to continue to progress into the future.

Pohlman and McLean keep talking about change. The change started three years ago when I was hired as Fire District Chief.

I would like a public response to my questions.

Dave Lane, Fire Chief

Seeley Lake Rural Fire District
