  • Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

Mike Childs and Diann Ericson, Swan Valley, Montana|Sep 3, 2020

Dear friends, neighbors and members of the Missoula County Medical Community, When our lives changed dramatically on Nov. 16, 2019 due to Diann’s stroke, dozens upon dozens of individuals rushed to aid our family. First responders arrived and in quick succession so did the ambulance crew, doctors, nurses and hospital staff. Friends allowed me to stay in their homes in Missoula. Others in Condon cared for our dogs, safeguarded our home and many traveled in from the Swan Valley to offer hopeful messages and give us the benefit of our c...

  • Students share info about water quality

    Diann Ericson, Swan Valley AARP|Mar 21, 2019

SWAN VALLEY - On March 5, the Swan Valley American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) were treated to a visit from Swan Valley Elementary School's third through fifth graders. The main purpose of their visit was to share information about their water quality monitoring work. Last fall, with financial assistance from AARP, these students worked with Watershed Education Network and Swan Valley Connections to gather water quality data from a site on Glacier Creek, a project pursued by various...

  • Lee Bridges - The best choice for HD92

    Diann Ericson, Swan Valley, Mont.|Oct 4, 2018

I am supporting Lee Bridges for HD92 and here is why. Lee had left information cards on our door during the primary election in June and has personally been by twice since August. We were never home. Finally we were able to talk at two different “meet Lee Bridges” events. I decided it was time to learn more about this person than her party affiliation and her “around the world life” with her career military family and her passion for motorcycles. Yes, I like her style. I would describe it as down to earth, sincere and reflective. These charact...

  • Thanks for Driving Slow on Dirt Roads

    Diann Ericson, Swan Valley, MT|Jun 7, 2018

To our dirt road friends and neighbors of the Glacier Creek, Styler and Remicks area, Your considerate driving makes the air around the area cleaner. If particulate in the air were compared with other parts of the valley, ours would be cleaner. Not just because of the dust abatement participants but because so many of you drive slower during dust season. More than a dozen local residents walk, jog, bike and horseback ride these neighborhoods throughout the year, especially the dusty months. Thanks for driving slowly on dirt roads in the...

  • How to Tackle the Regional Plan

    Diann Ericson - resident, Swan Valley, Mont.|Mar 22, 2018

SWAN VALLEY - If you do not have the time or desire to read the second draft word for word, I suggest taking 15 minutes to skim over the entire document. This will enable you to find subtopics in each of the seven elements that are of particular interest to you. Then write out your comments on those subtopics. There are response sheets available which can help all of us organize our comments. You may email Henry Westra at henry.westra@gmail.com to request them. Then, may I recommend that you conclude your comments by recognizing that the...

  • To Whom it May Concern

    Diann Ericson, Swan Valley resident|Aug 10, 2017

In the July 27 edition of the Seeley Swan Pathfinder, I wrote a letter to the editor and failed to signify that I was writing as a Swan Valley resident. I was not writing as a Swan Valley Regional Planning Committee (SRVPC) member or on behalf of the SVRPC. I apologize for this mistake....

  • Dowdall's Comments Hold the Same Weight as All Other Comments

    Diann Ericson, Swan Valley, Mont.|Jul 27, 2017

SWAN VALLEY - I am grateful to the Seeley Swan Pathfinder for the opportunity to address a topic under discussion in Swan Valley Regional Planning Committee: the edits to the Swan Valley Regional Plan by Colleen Dowdall. I wish to emphasize that the edits to the Swan Valley Regional Plan by Colleen Dowdall, a Missoula attorney, represent the comments of a local resident. The fact that she rewrote the entire plan does not change the fact that these are the comments of one of the more than 60 written comments that were presented to the Swan...

  • Dave Strohmaier: Read His Website

Diann Ericson and Mike Childs, Swan Valley, Mont.|Nov 3, 2016

I am certain many of you feel this way…the candidate you support must reflect your values. Values first, party second. By values, I mean what is the candidate’s position on issues that you believe are important to our county, state and nation. Dave Strohmaier’s extensive experience in natural resources, local and state government, as a public official and in public service, merits my attention immediately. On Dave’s first day in office as a Missoula County Commissioner, he will know dozens of county and state officials and will be able to “hit...

  • A Call to Action for the Swan Valley Community

    Diann Ericson, Condon, Mont.|Feb 25, 2016

SWAN VALLEY - We have an opportunity before us to be heard or to be ignored. I am writing this letter to those of us who want to be heard by Missoula County regarding the maintenance and protection of the Swan Valley. As many of you know, a draft of a neighborhood plan has been completed by the planning committee of the Swan Valley Community Council. It is a document consisting of values based on an envisioning process (a community survey technique) carried out in 2012 by the Swan Valley-Condon Comprehensive Plan-Growth Committee. It is my...
