Skiers glide to solid finish

WHITEFISH, MONTANA – Tree skiers from the Seeley Lake Nordic Team and their coach Darren Zellman took to the racecourse during the annual Glacier Glide Jan. 9 in Whitefish, Montana.

"I was proud of the kids who competed in the Glacier Glide," said Head Coach Bridget Laird. "They haven't skied much yet this winter but they still competed well."

Loryn Neudecker, 9, finished first in the 8-9 age group in the girl's 1K freestyle. She finished in 4:30.62 and placed fifth overall.

In the 3.5K skate, Land Neudecker, 10, finished second in the 10-11 age group and 10th overall for the male finishers with a time of 13:44.08. Ten-year-old Kimber Hanson finished fifth in the 10-11 age group and 17th overall with a time of 18:16.9.

Zellman raced in both the 10K Classic and 20K Skate. In the 10K Men's Classic, he took 6th overall and 5th in the 22-99 age group with a time of 43:37.88. In the 20K Men's Skate, he placed 9th overall, 8th in the 22-99 age group, with a tie of 1:14:07.

"It was a gorgeous day and the kids had a blast," said volunteer coach Ryen Neudecker. "We are very grateful for the amazing Nordic Ski program in Seeley and all the volunteers, coaches, teachers, organizations and community members who continue to dedicate so much time to make this opportunity happen for our kids."

The Seeley Lake Nordic Team will host the 10th annual Skiesta at 1 p.m. at the Seeley Creek Ski Trails. This is the first home race of the season and will include a Youth 1K, Youth 3K, Youth 5K, 10K and Adult 20K. Registration is online only at https://runsignup.com/Race/MT/SeeleyLake/Skiesta.
