Seeley-Swan soars over Bobcats

SEELEY LAKE - Seeley-Swan High School's Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks defeated the Superior Bobcats Dec. 10 in front of the home crowd.

The Boys got right to work putting the Bobcats down eight points by the first buzzer. They maintained their lead through the second quarter. In the second half the Blackhawks took control allowing the Bobcats just three baskets and a handful of free throws while putting up 36 points of their own. The Blackhawks won 64-33.

Walker McDonald put in 6 baskets and a free throw to lead the Blackhawks with 13 points. Chase Haines was right behind McDonald with 11 point from a pair of two-pointers and a pair of three-pointers. Owen Hoag also hit double digits with 3 baskets and 5 free throws.

Also scoring: Jason James 8. Oskar Murphy 7, Ben Haley 6, Seth Richardson 5 and Klayton Kovatch 2.

The Lady Blackhawks took a massive lead in the first quarter and doubled it in the second only allowing the Bobcats a single three-pointer in each of the first quarters. The Bobcats started hitting the mark in the second half but they were still no match for the Lady Blackhawks. The final score was 64-33.

Sariah Maughan put up 22 points to lead the Lady Blackhawks hitting 8 two-pointers, 1 three-pointer and 3 free throws. Tegan Mauldin also broke into the double digits scoring 10 points on a pair of three-pointers a two-pointer and she hit 2 for free throws.

The Lady Blackhawks were shooting well from the free-throw sinking 10 of 14 attempted. S. Maughan and Mia Saalfeld were perfect, hitting 3 for 3 and 2 for 2 respectively while Emily Maughan hit 3 of 4 and Mauldin hit 2 of 3.

Also scoring: E. Maughan 9, Saalfeld 8, Dani Sexton 5, Ava Thornsberry 4, Kyla Conley 4 and Trista Alexander 2.

After taking on the Bobcats, the Lady Blackhawks pulled off another victory defeating Hot Springs on the road 65-22 Dec. 11 while the Boys fell in a nail biter, 52-55.

This week Seeley-Swan travels to Lincoln Dec. 17 for a varsity only matchup with the Boys starting at 4:30 p.m. followed by the Girls.
