Points to consider with proposed sewer

SEELEY LAKE - When deciding the proposed sewer, I hope the conservative, financially and socially responsible citizens of Seeley consider this:

• Combined utility, water and sewer costs per user is likely to be THREE times what’s considered a normal/fair rate...unless we beg for more grants and hope for help from somewhere. [Montana Dept. of Natural Resources and Conservation / Pathfinder article “Annual assessment may double” 05/28/2020]

• Is now really the right time to saddle the village of Seeley with a never-ending debt? We are in the midst of 40 million unemployed, $3.7 trillion public debt, a crashing economy and a global pandemic. ALL of this will affect Seeley and its two main industries, travel and forest products, with more ‘free money’ hard to find.

• The problem has ALWAYS been the COST - not building it. Seeley just doesn’t have the density or layout to make a sewer as proposed viable.

• The majority of district users are opposed to the project...recent board elections showed that [again]. Mail-in-protest is not an election.

• Missoula County’s restrictive sewer regulations have created this dilemma. People have the right to improve and develop their property but seem to have no other option than huge community expense for benefit of a few.

Regulations and rules can be modified. Maybe promote and elect people who will work with communities to accommodate their needs and modify the rules. Try that instead of beating this sad horse more.
