The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks wrapped up their last week of the regular season with a victory over Clark Fork and loss to Plains. The Ladies are seeded number one heading into the District 13-C Tournament with a conference record of 8-2. Their overall record is 12-4.
The Lady Blackhawks started off their week with a trip to Alberton to face the Clark Fork Mountain Cats. They defeated the Cats in the first set 26-24 and then traded wins back and forth. The Cats won sets two and four, 20-25 and the Lady Blackhawks won set three 25-21 and the final set 15-11.
Sariah Maughan, Klaire Kovatch and Bethany Hoag all hit double digits in kills with 16, 14 and 10 respectively. Taylor Dillree led the team with 4 aces.
On the defense, the Ladies had just 4 solo blocks and 11 assisted blocks with Trista Wendel having 2 of the solo blocks and Kovatch getting in on 7 of the assisted blocks. Dillree had 34 serve receptions with just 2 errors and led with 14 digs while Maughan had 15 assists.
The Lady Blackhawks faced Plains on the home court Oct. 26 and kept the fans on the edges of their seats. They fell to Plains in the first two sets 21-25 and 23-25 before coming back in the next two sets 28-26 and 25-17 to tie up the match. Victory slipped from the Lady Blackhawks' hands in the final set 13-15.
Kovatch led the Lady Blackhawks in kills with 11 followed by Maughan and Hoag with 7 kills each. Wendel had 4 kills out of 12 with just one error for the highest hit percentage. Maughan and Aspen Conley had nearly all the team's assists with 12 and 11.
The Lady Blackhawks had 19 aces. Dillree led with 6 aces followed by Conley, Jordan Johnson and Emma Stevenson with 3 aces each.
Dillree and Stevenson had 20 and 12 serve receives respectively and 15 digs each.
This week the Lady Blackhawks head to the District 13-C Tournament in Missoula at Valley Christian. Their first game is Oct. 31 at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of Clark Fork versus Lincoln. Check out Cory's ad on the back page of the Pathfinder for the tournament brackets.
