Boys basketball take win from Charlo, loss to Drummond

The Seeley Swan High School Boys Basketball Team cemented another win against Charlo and lost to Drummond, leaving the team with a 4-2 record going into Christmas break.

Both Drummond and Charlo were bigger in size, with each team featuring multiple players at six-foot four-inches or taller. Head Coach Mike Haines said he is happy how the team has adjusted to take on more physical opponents, especially when Blackhawks' tallest player is six-foot two-inches.

At least two players on Charlo stand at six-foot-six inches, but that didn't stop the Blackhawks from notching a 50-47 victory on Dec. 21.

"Heck of an effort by the boys," Haines said about the Charlo game. "We got good pressure, got pressure on (Charlo) and did a better job blocking out. If we made our free shots it could have been a more comfortable game."

Seeley-Swan lost to Drummond earlier in the week 46-74. Haines said the Drummond team has improved a lot from last year, but he said the Blackhawks can still compete with physicality and making good shots.

After the break, the Blackhawks will face St. Regis at home on Jan. 5. Haines expects the game to be a big one after Seeley-Swan beat St. Regis 54-52 on Dec. 2
