Lady Blackhawks take down conference foes

The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks were victorious in their first two conference matches. They defeated Clark Fork on the road Sept. 6 and then Valley Christian at home two days later. The Ladies overall record is now 2-2.

Clark Fork fell to the Lady Blackhawks in four games 25-22, 24-26, 25-20 and 25-20. Lady Blackhawks Head Coach Tammy Lewis credited serving and digging for the victory over Clark Fork.

The Lady Blackhawks had 85 digs total with Taylor Dillree racking up 23. Ashley Miller and Autumn Morse also dug into the double digits with 19 and 16 respectively.

Klaire Kovatch led the Lady Blackhawks in aces with 5 followed by 4 from Dillree. Kovatch also scored 11 of the teams 33 kills. Morse led the Lady Blackhawks in assists with 12.

Sariah Maughan and Kovatch had 1 stuff block and 1 block each while Miller had 1 stuff block and Dillree 1 block.

The Lady Blackhawks defeated Valley Christian in three games. The first game was a close one at 27-25. The Ladies had a little more breathing room in game two and three with scores of 25-17 and 25-19.

Serving again played a big part in the Lady Blackhawks' victory. The team had 17 aces with Morse contributing 7 and Emma Stevenson 5.

Kovatch had 7 kills, 4 blocks and 3 stuff blocks while Miller led in digs with 8. Morse had 10 of the teams 15 assists.

This week the Lady Blackhawks have a pair of home matches. First they take on Victor Sept. 13 with JV starting at 5:30 p.m. They face Drummond Sept. 15 with JV starting at 4 p.m.
