Double Arrow Ranch Observes Wildfire Community Preparedness Day

SEELEY LAKE - The Double Arrow Ranch Fire Safety Committee organized a community clean-up day in observance of the National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day May 5th. The committee was awarded a $500 grant from the National Fire Protection Association and State Farm to assist with the project. NFPA and State Farm sponsor the national Firewise Community program.

The Double Arrow Ranch is a certified Firewise community and must host outreach events such as this each year as part of the requirements to maintain certification. The Double Arrow Ranch will be recognized for its 10 year anniversary as a Firewise community later this summer.

Volunteers worked along one of the main, neighborhood evacuation routes to remove the downfall that occurred during this winter's heavy snows. Sawyers from the DNRC Clearwater Unit assisted with the clean-up project by delimbing the downed trees and bucking them into manageable pieces. Volunteer landowners followed behind, feeding the slash into a chipper that was rented for the event.
