Lady Blackhawks Head to Western C Divisional Tournament

FRENCHTOWN - The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks are heading to the Western C Divisional Tournament after taking second place at the 13C District Tournament. The Ladies whipped Victor in their opening game and defeated Darby before falling to Clark Fork in the championship game. They will face Charlo in their opening game in Hamilton March 1 at 10:30 a.m.

The Lady Blackhawks held Victor to just one basket in each quarter and a handful of free throws in the game. The final score was 60-15.

Aspen Conley led the Ladies with 14 points. Klaire Kovatch also got into the double digits with 11 points. Autumn Morse and Ashley Miller hit the teams only three pointers. The Lady Blackhawks struggled from the free throw line hitting only 6 of 20 attempted.

Also scoring: Morse 9, Miller 7, Chloe Robbins 6, Terra Bertsch 5, Kara Good 4, Bethany Hoag 2, Lily Mercer 1 and Taylor Dillree 1.

The Lady Blackhawks got off to an early lead over Darby in the semifinal but couldn't put more than a couple baskets between them till the final quarter. The Ladies outscored Darby 14 to 4 in the final frame to their 48-33 win.

Jory Towe led the Lady Blackhawks against Darby with 9 points. Miller hit the Ladies only three pointer. The Lady Blackhawks nearly doubled their free throw average over their performance against Victor.

Also scoring: Morse 8, Miller 7, Kovatch 6, Bertsch 6, Robbins 5, Mercer 3, Conley 2 and Hoag 2.

The Lady Blackhawks faced an uphill battle with Clark Fork. They had fallen to Clark Fork during both meetings in the regular season and this time would prove to be more of the same. The Ladies fell behind early and Clark Fork slowly slipped out of reach as the time wound down. The final score was 41-57.

Miller scored more than half the Lady Blackhawks points hitting 9 baskets and 4 free throws.

Also scoring: Kovatch 5, Bertsch 4, Robbins 3, Towe 3, Morse 2 and Mercer 1.

Divisional Tournament will be held Feb. 22-24 in Hamilton.
