Lady Blackhawks Take First at Divisional Meet

MISSOULA - The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks triumphed over the competition for first place at the Western C Divisional Track Meet May 21. The Lady Blackhawks earned 89 points to beat out Plains and Ennis with 70 points each.

Four Lady Blackhawks advanced to state in individual events while two more earned places on relay teams.

Only one of the Boys advanced in an individual event. The Boys 1600-meter relay team also earned a spot at state.

Alex Bohlman led the Ladies in points. She took first place in the 200-meter, third in the 400-meter, javelin and high jump and fourth in the 100-meter dash.

Stephanie Robbins brought home three silvers in the 800, 1600 and 3200-meter events.

Cera Strumpfer jumped to first place in the pole vault while Lily Mercer punched her ticket to state with a fourth place in the 400 and fifth place in the 800.

The Lady Blackhawks 1600-meter relay team took first place in the final event of the meet. Andi Bohlman, Paige Holmes, Robbins and Mercer set a season record of 4:10.20 in the event. If they can shave 4 seconds off their time this weekend and hold the competition at bay, they will have a new school and state record. The Ladies 400-meter relay also advanced to state, finishing third.

Mitch Parcell led the Boys in individual points, taking third in the 800-meter.

Hunter Shelmerdine set a personal record in the 400-meter earning sixth while Quinton Johnson finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles. The pair came up just short of a trip to state with only the top five advancing.

Keaton Johnson, Logan Robinson and Gavin Mercado joined Shelmerdine for fourth place in the 1600-meter relay earning the group a ticket to state.

The Blackhawks wrap up their season at the State C Meet May 26-28 in Missoula at the MCPS track.
