Lady Blackhawks Claim First Place at Districts

HAMILTON - For the fourth year running, the Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks beat out the competition for First Place at the District 13-C tournament.

The Ladies took down Lincoln, Clark Fork and Drummond in their run to the top, earning themselves a spot at the Western C Divisional Tournaments this week. The victories extend their record to 20-1 overall.

Versus Lincoln

The Lady Blackhawks dominated the Lincoln Lynx in the first game of the tournament.

All but one of the Ladies put points on the board as they held the Lynx to just two points for a final score of 53-2.

Paige Holmes led the Lady Blackhawks scoring 12 points followed by Stephanie Robbins with 8 points.

Also scoring: Marisol Caro 6; Delaney Holzworth 6; Mary Strumpfer 6; Alex Bohlman 4; Eliana Robinett 4; Stevi Meade 3; Tessa Grimes 2; Ashley Miller 1 and Cera Strumpfer 1.

Versus Clark Fork

The Lady Blackhawks took on Clark Fork in the semifinal round of the district tournament.

Clark Fork proved to be no match for the Lady Blackhawks who easily defeated them 48-14.

The Ladies were led by Alex Bohlman with 12 points. Paige Holmes was close behind with 10.

Also scoring: Tessa Grimes 9; Delaney Holzworth 8; Marisol Caro 3; Eliana Robinett 2; Stevi Meade 2 and Cera Strumpfer 2.

Versus Drummond

The Lady Blackhawks met Drummond in the championship game. Drummond was the only team this season to hand the Ladies a loss.

The first quarter was a slow start as both teams' defense kept the game to a low 5-2 score. The Lady Blackhawks broke away in the second quarter running up a 14-point advantage heading into the half.

Drummond came out after the half and fought their way up to within three points of the Lady Blackhawks. With two minutes left in the third quarter, the Ladies were able to break Drummond's momentum and regain a nine-point advantage going into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Blackhawks held Drummond to just one point in the final quarter while putting in nine for themselves. The final score was 38-21.

Paige Holmes had 11 points to lead the Lady Blackhawks with Delaney Holzworth adding 10 of her own.

Also scoring: Alex Bohlman 6; Eliana Robinett 3; Marisol Caro 2; Cera Strumpfer 2; Stevi Meade 2 Mary Strumpfer 1 and Tessa Grimes 1.

This Week at SSHS

Western C Divisional Tournaments are this week in Hamilton, Mont. The Boys' first game is against Ennis Feb. 25 at 12 p.m. The Lady Blackhawks take on either Charlo or White Sulphur Springs (WSS) in their first game of the tournament Feb. 25 at 4:45 p.m. Charlo and WSS play on Feb. 24 in a loser out battle for the final spot in the tournament.
