Blackhawks Pull off Pair of Wins

The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks defeated the Clark Fork Mountain Cats on the road before taking down the Drummond Trojans in overtime at home. The pair of wins improves the Blackhawks overall record to 2-3.

Versus Clark Fork Co-op

The Blackhawks took on the Clark Fork Mountain Cats Dec. 17. The Mountain Cats are a new team this year formed by a co-op between Alberton and Superior.

After a slow start in the first quarter, the Blackhawks worked to chisel away at the Mountain Cats in the second quarter and took the lead in the third. The Blackhawks fended off the Cats in the fourth quarter for their first win of the season. The final score was 43-39 in favor of the Blackhawks.

Jacob Haley led the Blackhawks with 13 points, including two three-pointers. Billy Bedson followed with 8 points and hit 4 of 4 free throws.

Cameron Haines was also 100 percent from the free throw line with 2 for 2. Haines hit two three-pointers to add to his game total of 10 points. Joshua Cahoon had 8 points off two three-pointers and one two-pointer. Bradley Miller rounded out the Blackhawks scoring with 4 points.

Versus Drummond

The Blackhawks took on the Drummond Trojans at home Dec. 19.

The Blackhawks came out strong for an early lead over the Trojans but by the third quarter it was erased. The teams traded shots and the lead back and forth. With two minutes left on the clock, the Blackhawks enjoyed a four-point advantage.

The Blackhawk's offense was unable to capitalize any further while the Trojans tied it up at 40-40 and sent the game into overtime.

Overtime was riddled with fouls. The Trojans took eight shots from the charity line while the Blackhawks attempted nine. Both teams made four.

The Blackhawk's defense held the Trojans from making any shots from the field.

Offensively, Jacob Haley sunk a three-pointer while Joshua Cahoon and Cameron Haines each sunk two-pointers to give the Blackhawks the win, 51-44.

Four Blackhawks broke into double digit scoring. Bradley Miller led with 13 points. Haley and Cahoon added 12 each while Billy Bedson had 10 points.

Also scoring: Keaton Johnson 2 and Haines 2.
