Boys working through illness, respond with win at Hot Springs

The Seeley Swan High School Boys Basketball team is working through a team-wide sickness, which hurt them in its loss versus St. Regis on Jan. 5, but the team rallied back to steal a victory from Hot Springs on the road Jan. 6.

Head Coach Mike Haines said a mystery bug has spread through the team, with some players getting sick multiple times. He said the team is not 100%, which has affected their play. Against St. Regis, when they lost 40-63, Haines said the team turned the ball over 30 times.

"We were not playing (St. Regis) up to our standards," Haines said. "I am pretty proud of the boys against Hot Springs, they brought the energy. We didn't play great, but we played well enough to win."

Haines added that there is a small scoring controversy from the Hot Springs Game, as he believed the Blackhawks won by four points, but the home record keeper said the team only won 55-53. The outcome of the game will not change, but Haines hopes to get the score corrected.

The Blackhawks will face two conference opponents this weekend. First up is a home game against Victor on Jan. 12, followed by an away game at Granite High School on Jan. 13.
