Cowboy Claus rides again

Cowboy Claus made his annual visit to the Ovando Christmas Fest for the 23rd time. He rode into town on Bill and Dena Hooker's faithful steed Nic, who has been carrying Cowboy Claus to the Christmas Fest for 15 years.

This years' celebration on Nov. 25 included craft vendors filling the Ovando gym and Rob Henrekin's wagon with his team of black percherons ferrying visitors back and forth from downtown Ovando to the gym.

Children's activities happened at the church and Christmas trees were available as a new venue. The locally harvested trees were sold by the Blackfoot Commercial Company.

Helmville residents Cassie, Kash and Oakley Pocha, along with Bennett and Kaiser Edwards of Helmville served fry bread and Indian tacos in front of the cook tent. Trixies, the Stray Bullet and snacks at the gym fed the crowd of nearly 300 people who came to enjoy the community spirit during the sunny day.

Josh and Margaret Lee visited Cowboy Claus with their children Talon and Timber as second generation Christmas Festers. Margaret remembers growing up in Ovando and visiting with Cowboy Claus when she was a youngster.

Jeannette Coleman of Seeley Lake sold her artwork as one of the 20 vendors at the craft show during the Christmas Fest.

The fire hall was open for kids to see the fire trucks and gingerbread house making. See more photos online at seeleylake.com!
