Two dogs attack goats, deer in Seeley Lake

Two dogs around Seeley Lake drew concerns from residents after the animals attacked a goat and caused other problems for multiple-days.

The two dogs, both huskies, were first reported by Missy Kesterke, who watched the pair attack her goat on Oct. 8. Kesterke said her goat Dixie is still alive and recovering.

The dogs have been sighted several times after that, most notably eating a deer carcass, harassing horses and other livestock and chasing someone’s cat up a tree. The dogs were promptly reported to animal control.

Missoula County Animal Control refused to comment on case details, as the investigation is ongoing. Animal Control Sergeant McAllister, who refused to give her first name to the Pathfinder, is investigating the case.

McAllister said some conflicting information has held up the investigation. It is unclear if the dogs have been caught by Missoula County Animal Control, or if they are a threat to the public. The Pathfinder will continue to follow this case as more information becomes available.
