Holland sewer might have long standing problems, 2005 letter shows

The wastewater system near Holland Lake might have been leaking since 2005, and photos show large rips in parts of the lagoon's liner from last year, according to letters and photos requested through the Freedom of Information Act by the nonprofit Save Holland Lake.

The nonprofit shared several obtained photos and correspondence between Forest Service engineers and technicians working on the two-cell lagoon roughly 1,000 feet from the Holland Lake Lodge.

One handwritten note from Forest Service Engineer Patrick Siers said the lagoon was likely leaking in 2005.
