Blackhawks soar over Sheridan for homecoming

The Seeley-Swan High School football team took a big win at home, taking down Sheridan 42-12 on Sept. 15 for homecoming weekend.

The Blackhawks looked for a much-needed victory after going 1-1 on the road, first winning against Powell County High School and then losing to Manhattan Christian.

Seeley-Swan took control of the game early with a touchdown by Kolten ZurMuehlen, followed by a two-point conversion run by Seth Dunster. The Blackhawks found paydirt again with a long run from Cannon Hawkinson to go ahead 16-0.

The Sheridan Panthers weren't going to leave without a fight, and made multiple deep-drives into Blackhawks territory through a strong passing game. But when the Panthers made it to the goal line, the Blackhawks defense kept the opposing team out of the endzone.

At half, the Blackhawks led 16-0, and it was only heating up from there. Three third quarter touchdowns brought the score up to 36-0. The Seeley-Swan defense also stepped up, nabbing three interceptions in the third quarter.

The game ended with a Blackhawk victory 42-12. Seeley-Swan moves to 2-2 overall, and sits at seventh in the 10-team South Central 8-man division. The Blackhawks will hope to build momentum this Friday with an away game versus Lone Peak High School on Sept. 22.
