First 'nature of art' workshops coming to Seeley Lake

A movement in the art world has begun to take hold. A collective of people are having the same idea around the state, region and nation: to get together in person and share the experience of making art. This has inspired Alpine Artisans to host Seeley Lake’s first-ever, multi-day, multi-media, multi-instructors event called “The Nature of Art Workshops” on Sept. 15-17 in Seeley Lake. Over a single weekend, artists and anyone with a creative spark can come and try something new! Organizer Kris Gullikson states, “I am inspired by the experience I had recently trying new forms of art in a similar retreat setting in the Bitterroot. Trying new things stretches our imaginations and gives new life to our creations and gives us confidence to go further. It’s one of the most inspiring weekends I’ve had. Here in Seeley, we’ll offer the same great opportunity”.

The Nature of Art Workshops in Seeley Lake will be an adventure for artists of all levels in these art forms: En Plein Air, Gelli Printmaking, Silk Painting and Nature Journaling. Over two days, these four workshops will be taught by regional experts in their craft. Demonstration artists include Debra Kehoe with Nature Journaling from Bonner, Roberta Burruss with En Plein Air watercolors and Diane Olhoeft with Silk Painting from Corvallis, and Shimi McKenzie with Gelli Printmaking from Hamilton MT. Classes will be both indoors at the Seeley Lake Community Hall and outdoors in beautiful Seeley Lake.

Register on the AAI website: http://www.alpineartisans.org. If you have supplies already, it is simply a $30 registration fee. If you don’t, then you only purchase the kits you want to try. Prices range from $30-45. The event is limited to 40 attendees.
