Owl and Prowl

Bundle up and join us for a moonlight snowshoe nature walk as we search for our resident owls and learn about these amazing nocturnal predators. Our prowl will begin at the CRC office in the Seeley Lake Bison and Bear Shopping Center before venturing outdoors. We will learn to identify owls by sight and sound, their habitats, and behaviors. Following the indoor portion, participants will drive to a nearby location to call and listen for Great Grey, Great Horned, Barred, and Saw-whet owls. We will snowshoe in the forest as day turns into night and the moon rises higher. Expect to return to the CRC office no later than 9:00 p.m. Dress warmly! Participants will be standing in the cold for at least 10 minutes at a time. Children under 12 are not recommended. “Quiet” clothing is to greaten our chances of sightings. Bring snowshoes, headlamps, flashlights, extra layers, and water. Night time snowshoeing on an easy trail with uneven terrain. No dogs permitted.
