Blackhawks strike again

VICTOR - The Lady Blackhawks took the win over the Victor Pirates at their third away game on Dec.17.

The girls took the lead right away, only giving Victor 10 points to their 49 in the first half,  and leaving them with zero points in the second half, finishing the game with a score of 65 to 10.

Senior Emily Maughan made the most points in the game, totaling out 22, with Dani Sexton hitting double digits as well with 12 points. “The girls had a solid weekend. Much better on our assist turnover ratio from our younger players and excellent feedback and encouragement from our senior leaders. We talk a lot about how our success starts with defense and holding these teams to low totals is a testament to the hard work our team puts in during the week,” says girls varsity coach, Dave Cahoon.

The boys also had a thrilling game, winning with a score of 57 to 38. They started off strong in the first quarter with the score 14 to 6, but had a close call, ending the second quarter with a score of 29 to 29. The boys quickly bounced back, ending the game with 57 points to Victor’s 38. Senior Connor Matthew made 17 points in the game, with Ben Haley close behind making 12.

It was an exciting game for both the boys and girls, with both junior varsity teams winning as well.
