Lowry charged with theft, fraud

MISSOULA -- Contractor Robert ‘Bob” Lowry sits in jail while facing criminal charges for allegedly committing several acts of fraud and theft amounting to $40,000 in Seeley Lake.

While confined in the Lewis and Clark County Jail, Missoula County prosecutors recently filed charges claiming Lowry, 57, who faced similar charges in at least three other states, collected fees for work he did not complete in Seeley Lake.

Lowry faced charges dating back to 2018 and was convicted of several of them in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New Mexico.

He filed several countersuits against arresting officers and the jails he was held in, court records show.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s deputies arrested and imprisoned Lowry on March 31, 2022, on similar allegations, according to jail records.

Lowry allegedly committed the fraudulent acts under his Helena-based business name of Bob The Electrician.

According to the Better Business Bureau, his company has received so many complaints, it does not qualify to be listed by the consumer-protection agency.

Besides the criminal charges he faces, the Montana Supreme Court ordered Lowry to pay an estimated $13,000 in restitution to his former Gallatin County employer.

According to Supreme Court decision in 2019, Lowry retained equipment from Industrial Automation Consultants after the company fired him.

Former Pathfinder owners told Sheriff’s Det. Bob Parcell that Lowry allegedly engaged in a long-term advertising campaign in 2020 but only paid part of his bills.

Parcell actually arranged a meting between Lowry and two Seeley Lake victims so he could reimburse them.

But Lowry didn’t show up, according to the charging documents.

Parcell also discovered that Lowry was precluded at that time from acting as a contractor as specified in conditions of a pre-existing parole.
