Blackhawks fall to Panthers in triple overtime

SHERIDAN – Seeley-Swan High School Football team suffered a tough loss Sept. 16 against the Sheridan Panthers. The final score after three overtimes was 32-33.

Head Coach Jared Crum said, "Every kid that traveled to that game, in my opinion, left there a champion. I'm very proud of these boys."

The Blackhawks lead the Panthers most of the night, but injuries had three starters sidelined for the evening.

"Our kids dominated the game but injuries during the game proved to be fatal towards the end," Crum said. "Hats off to Sheridan as they played the game of their lives that night."

Senior Quarterback Ben Haley had 171 rushing yards, three touchdowns, scored the lone two-point conversion and threw for 21 passing yards. Junior Cannon Hawkinson rushed for 119 total yards and one touchdown. Sophomore Seth Dunster scored on a 15-yard pass from Haley.

Senior Klayton Kovatch had 10 tackles on the night while Senior Kaden Thornsberry, Hawkinson and Haley each had eight.

Haley returned an interception for 32-yards and had a 41-yard kickoff return. Kovatch had one sack for a 10-yard loss.

"We look to getting a couple kids off the injury list for the game against Lone Peak," Crum said. The team had limited practice last week due to air quality.

The Blackhawks return to their home field Friday night, Sept. 23 for a game against Lone Peak. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
