The Bob Marshall Music Festival returns this weekend

SEELEY LAKE - The sixth annual Bob Marshall Music Festival returns to Seeley Lake on Aug. 5 and Aug. 6. Festival organizers said they're excited to bring a new lineup of popular country, rock and folk artists from across the country to the festival grounds. There is also the Seeley Lake Duathlon/Triathlon Saturday morning.

"We were really happy to bring the festival back this year," said Heidi OBrien, the Lewis and Clark Brewing Marketing Director. "This is now the third festival we've done. We've just had a great reception from Seeley Lake and are excited to bring another year of great music to the festival."

The festival will feature nine different artists and bands, including Casey Donahew, Deer Tick, Sterling Drake, El Wencho, Josh Meloy, After Party, Cruz Contreraz, Amanda Stewart and Boot Juice.

The headliner for Friday, Aug. 5 will be Casey Donahew, a favorite among the Texas country scene, and the headliner for Saturday, Aug. 6 will be Deer Tick, a popular alternative rock-folk band from Providence, Rhode Island.

Tickets for day passes bought in advance are $60 and the music-only weekend regular rate is $99.

OBrien said they raised the festival's original capacity from 1,000 to 1,500. She expects around 1,000 to 1,200 attendants based on current ticket sales.

In previous years, concerns were raised about traffic being backed up to Highway 83, but OBrien said they plan to make people drive around the festival grounds to avoid backup during check-in time at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Campers can have two vehicles on each site if they stay within site boundaries and additional vehicles must be parked in the parking overflow for a small fee of $5 per day. OBrien said the money from parking fees will be allocated to the Silver Lining Foundation, a nonprofit organization that donates money to their breast cancer survivor racing team.

As kick off to the Festival, everyone is invited to the "Before the Bob"free concert featuring Ian Thomas & Band of Drifters. They will play Thursday night starting at 7:30 p.m. in The Filling Station Beer Garden.

In addition to the music, events that will take place on the Festival Grounds include yoga Friday and Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Stage Area.

For attendees looking to start their Saturday morning with a family-friendly race, they can participate in the Youth For Christ Seeley Lake Duathlon/Triathlon starting at 9 a.m. at River Point Campground off Boy Scout Road. The event offers a duathlon for biking and running, a long and short swim triathlon and a kid's triathlon. Racers can compete solo or as a team and the race is on the flats of Seeley Lake. OBrien said they are still looking for more volunteers for the festival.

"We're looking for all different sorts of shifts from helping direct people to their campsite to selling festival merchandise," OBrien said.

Volunteers will get a $25 discount on tickets, free merchandise and free beer tokens. To sign up for volunteering, email heidi@lcbeer.com
