CONDON – Swan Valley Elementary School graduates were honored on June 9 in front of family and friends. Five kindergarteners and two eighth graders received certificates of completion for their respective grades.
Colleen Harrington, junior high teacher, offered a few words of encouragement to the eighth-grade graduates Lillian Boyd and Darby Gleason. Harrington stated in a world of selfies and Instagram influencers, these girls are grounded. She felt that will carry forward with them in the world.
Guest speaker of the evening was Bradley Miller, a coach. Miller shared stories of coaching the girls in basketball. Miller stated the girls exemplified sportsmanship in their attitude both at practice and in competition. Miller's advise to Gleason was to always have confidence in herself. Miller referred to Boyd as a positive player. She always offered a smile but was ready to win along with being one the toughest players he has coached.
The evening was capped off with graduates Boyd and Gleason presenting their parents and others important to their journey with roses.
