Small business resources to be discussed at Business Community Lunch, May 10

SEELEY LAKE - Local business owners and hopeful owners are invited to a Business Community Lunch on Tuesday, May 10 from 12 – 1:30 p.m. in the West Wing of the Foundation Building, 3150 Highway 83. This informal meet-and-greet discussion is an opportunity to get to know what resources are offered by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Accelerate Montana to make connections for the future. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP if you can, but walk-ins are welcome.

Missoula SBDC Business Advisor/COVID Specialist Christine Littig and Accelerate Montana (AccelerateMT) representatives Karl Unterschuetz and Rebekah Skoog are sponsoring the event.

“I met Christine during county-wide coordination calls during the height of COVID two years ago. We invited her to Seeley Lake last year for an ‘open house’ for business owners to learn about free services Seeley Lake has access to via SBDC. The attendees loved it, and we talked about doing it again,” said Claire Muller, Seeley Lake Community Foundation (SLCF) Executive Director. “This year, Christine is bringing along a couple of colleagues with her. I think part of the role of the SLCF is to help ‘connect the dots’ to gather and grow resources for this community. Hopefully, bringing ‘resources’ like these to Seeley will allow folks here to learn and grow and access tools to help them succeed!”

Littig has more than 25 years of small business ownership experience in Missoula County. For an individual that is looking to start a new business or expand their existing business, the SBDC network is the best place to start.

The SBDC network supports 10 regional centers across the state, focusing on free one-on-one counseling and low-cost training in areas such as financial analysis, business planning, strategic planning, loan packaging, financial projections and market research to help small businesses achieve their goals of growth, innovation and success.

AccelerateMT’s Rural Innovation Initiative (AMRII) supports ideas, side hustles or full businesses interested in growing to reach customers outside the local community. Do you have an idea or product you think would attract customers from around the United States or the World? AMRII can help with the process of getting there, through one-on-one coaching, free tools and just being a champion when a boost is needed.

The rapid training program of AccelerateMT is working to support collaboration and employer driven trainings to serve the workforce. While in the development phase, they are seeking information from all types of employers to better understand what is needed in their staff, employees and how to can better serve business owners.

All three will be working out of the Foundation Building following the lunch and will have “open office hours.” Everyone is welcome to stop by or request one of them come visit your workplace in the afternoon.
