Seeley Lake Library May News
SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Community Library is hosting their Book Club May 5 and “Lawyers in Libraries” presentation May 25, 3 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend both events.
The Seeley Lake Library Book Club is reading “Raven’s Gift” by Don Rearden. In “Raven’s Gift” John Morgan and his wife can barely contain their excitement upon arriving as the new teachers in a Yup’ik Eskimo village on the Alaskan tundra. But their move proves disastrous when a deadly epidemic strikes and the isolate community descends into total chaos. When outside help fails to arrive, Morgan’s only hope lies in escaping the snow-covered tundra and the hunger of the other survivors. He must take the 1,000-mile trek across the Alaskan wilderness for help.
The Book Club meets at 10 a.m. at the library. Refreshments will be provided. Masks are not required.
“Lawyers in Libraries” presentation will be held May 25 from 3 – 5 p.m. at the library. Senior Attorney for the Montana Legal Services Association Ed Higgins will give a presentation on the importance of civil legal justice and where people can go to get reliable civil legal information. More information will be available in the upcoming weeks.
The Summer Reading Program will resume starting June 15 and run through Aug. 15. The theme this year is “Oceans of Possibilities.” The Summer Reading Program aims to encourage literacy in readers of all ages. There will be prizes available. More details next month.
The Seeley Lake Community Library is located in the Seeley-Swan High School and is open Mondays and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information call 406-677-8995.

As of May 2, there have been 273,569 cases of COVID-19 in Montana. There have been 1,456,887 doses of vaccines administered and 563,351 Montanans fully immunized. There are 605 active cases, 11,904 total hospitalizations with 17 active, 270,156 recoveries and 3,373 deaths in Montana due to COVID-19 complications. Missoula County has had 27,573 cases, 126 active cases, 27,448 recovered and 205 COVID-related deaths to date.
