Faith over form

Letter to the Editor

Just a note to let you know how much I appreciated Dale Terrillion’s Passages column in the Pathfinder’s Feb. 17 issue. I agree with both him and John Wesley regarding Christian denominations.

It continues to be my belief that what Satan has used to divide the church, God has used to grow the church. Just as the Talmud is a book of Jewish tradition, denominational differences are often based on Christian tradition.

Jesus often corrected the Pharisees for mistaking their traditions for God’s intent. The simple fact of salvation is recorded by Paul in Romans 10:9,10, and is not easily misunderstood “If you confess with your mouth that ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with the heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with the mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

A very inspiring message Dale. Thanks.
