Local Ice Rinks are open for skating

SEELEY LAKE - Thanks to some amazing volunteers from Seeley Lake Regional Outdoor Center for Kinetic Sports (ROCKS) and the Seeley Lake Lions Club, the two ice skating rinks in town are now open for use.

ROCKS has been flooding the Community Ice Rink at Seeley Lake Elementary since mid-Dec. It was officially open Dec. 29. The skate shed is stocked with skates of all sizes to use free of charge. It is unlocked from 9am-9pm and lit until 11pm. Please rehang the skates when you are finished using them and skate at your own risk.

The Lions Club Pond (on the corner of Elm Drive and Cedar Lane) was first plowed Dec. 28 and volunteers have been keeping it clean ever since. There is a fire pit available to use and it is lit at night. They also have a shed with skates for use for free. Please rehang skates after use.

Both rinks are maintained by volunteers so chip in where you can and thank them when you see them out!

January Seeley Lake Council meeting canceled

SEELEY LAKE – Due to lack of agenda items, the Seeley Lake Community Council’s January meeting has been canceled. The next meeting will be Feb. 14 at 6 p.m.

Weekly COVID-19 update

As of Jan. 4, there have been 196,044 cases of COVID-19 in Montana. There have been 1,332,196 doses of vaccines administered and 539,983 Montanans fully immunized. There are 3,104 active cases, 10,433 total hospitalizations with 127 active, 192,508 recoveries and 2,908 deaths in Montana due to COVID-19 complications. Missoula County has had 18,335 cases, 518 active cases, 17,627 recovered and 190 COVID-related deaths to date.
