Runners step up the pace

The Blackhawks Cross Country team took to the course twice this week setting new personal bests. Sophomore Conner Chadwick and Senior Hunter Coyle participated in both meets, the first in Arlee and the second in Polson.

The Blackhawks set new records in the rain at the Arlee Hatchery run Tuesday, Sept. 28. Chadwick led the Blackhawks and set a new personal record (PR). He finished in 24th place with a time of 21:48.

Coyle had a strong meet as well, setting a season best with a time of 22:37 and finishing in 29th place.

Wesley Stevenson took nearly three minutes off his time, setting a new PR of 31:58. He finished in 58th place.

"All had a great meet and ran exceptionally well," said Head Coach Shawn Holmes.

With blue skies and sun, Chadwick and Coyle represented SSHS at the Mission Shadow Duels at the Polson Fairgrounds Saturday, Oct. 2. Holmes said it was a big meet and the boys did well.

Coyle got out in front of Chadwick to lead the Blackhawks. He finished in 23:04 for 79th place. Chadwick crossed the finish line seven seconds behind him to secure 81th place with a time of 23:11.
