Alpine Artisans' popular Tour of the Arts returns for its 18th year with over 15 artists at work in their studios, galleries and museums scattered throughout the Seeley-Swan and the Blackfoot Valleys. Held Oct. 9-10 to capture the height of the colorful yellow and golden western larch, the Tour features local artists showing a wide variety of their work. In addition, wood carvers and wood workers will offer live demonstrations.

Please note that two studios featured in the Tour brochure will be closed due to COVID precautions. These are Swan Valley Copper in the Swan Valley and the Annie Allen Art Studio in Lincoln. Masks are strongly recommended to all who attend. Free masks will be available.

Starting from the north in the Swan Valley, this free, self-guided tour leads you first to Grace's Gallery featuring the oil paintings of Paul Surber. Just south of Grace's Gallery, the Swan Valley Historical Museum is hosting a stained glass artist, a jeweler and a watercolorist.

In Seeley Lake, the Tour features Gallery 83 with over a dozen local artists including Patti Chamberlin's pine needle weavings and Kris Gullikson's watercolors. The Grizzly Claw Trading Company will once again host popular wood sculptor Will Katz demonstrating his artwork both days. A short distance up on the Double Arrow is Willow Creek Gallery where Scott Thompson will be demonstrating chain-saw carving bear sculptures each day at 1 p.m. Willow Creek will also be showing the watercolors of Catherine Kellogg.

Martha and Jerry Swanson offer detailed demonstrations of their craft at Swan Woods on Woodworth Road near Lake Upsata. Prominent Western painter Diane Whitehead plus jeweler Angela Williams are featured at the Brand Bar Museum in Ovando. Diane will be showing a variety of several large works in addition to numerous smaller paintings.

And on the east end of the Tour, painter Lisa Gibson will be showing her work with fiber artists Tamara Jordan at the unique Heritage House at the eastern end of Lincoln.

Tour brochures are available at the Grizzly Claw Trading Company in Seeley Lake, Mission Mountains Mercantile and the Swan Valley Library in Condon, Heritage House in Lincoln and on-line at http://www.alpineartisans.org. Contact Jenny for questions at 406-754-0034, jenny@alpineartisans.org.
