Blackhawks stay on course

The Seeley-Swan High School Cross Country team stepped it up with two meets this week. Tuesday, Sept. 14 they took to the course for the Mission Invitational at St. Ignatius High School earning a place on the podium and setting two new personal records. They also participated in the Mountain West meet in Missoula Saturday, Sept. 18 that drew more than 750 varsity runners.

Junior Kyla Conley was the only runner for the ladies. At the Mission Invite, she landed a spot on the podium finishing in fifth place with a time of 22:13, her best time of the season. At Mountain West she ran a 23:12 placing 159th out of more than 325 runners.

Sophomore Conner Chadwick continues to shave his time taking nearly a minute off last week’s PR, finishing in 22:19 on Tuesday. He placed 38th in the men’s 5,000 meter. He switched places with teammate senior Hunter Coyle at the Mountain West meet finishing in 384th place with a time of 23:11.

Coyle followed Chadwick in at the Mission Invite with at time of 23:09 finishing in 47th. However on Saturday, he beat Chadwick by one second finishing in 23:10 for 383rd place.

Also setting a PR at the Mission Invite, junior Tyler Neher took nearly four minutes off his first race and finished in 26:38 for 61st place. At Mountain West he finished in 28:03.

This week the team heads to Thompson Falls Thursday, Sept. 23 with races starting at 3 p.m.
