Quarteto Nuevo to perform this Sunday

SWAN VALLEY – After an 18-month hiatus, Alpine Artisans' 2 Valleys Stage musical concerts return to our valleys beginning with a talented quartet of California artists Quarteto Nuevo. Quarteto Neuvo will perform at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26 at the big heated tent in the backyard of the Hungry Bear Bar and Grill in Condon. Please note that this venue has moved from the Swan Valley Community Hall due to COVID precautions. Tickets are available at the door: $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and free admission to students under 18.

Quarteto Nuevo merges western classical, eastern European folk, Latin and jazz with an organic feel that packs a wallop! The ensemble's razor-sharp precision is enhanced by jazzy interludes, lightly rumbling percussion motifs and mesmerizing rhythms. They effectively meld the music of ancient worlds and faraway places with a contemporary groove that enchants audiences of all ages!

Winners of the Beverly Hills National Auditions, Quarteto's master musicians create emotionally charged soundscapes with instruments and sensibilities that represent very different world cultures. Their unique instrumentation richly colors their wide-ranging repertoire, from Heitor Villa-Lobos' "Bachianas Brasileiras" and Chick Corea's "Children's Song No. 6″ to the Traditional Macedonian "Gadjarsko". "Quarteto Nuevo's music is modern and uses advanced rhythms and time signatures yet also has the sound of ancient times," stated a review in the LA Jazz Scene.

Quarteto Nuevo will perform concerts and conduct workshops in the valleys' four schools in the two days following the concert, instructing students in improvisation, the rhythms of the world and the historical and cultural context of the world's music.

The next 2 Valleys Stage will feature The Gothard Sisters' celtic music in a special holiday concert at Seeley-Swan High School on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. These important programs are supported by individual donations, local business donations, the Seeley Lake Community Foundation, the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation and WESTAF, the Western States Art Foundation.
