Blackhawks dominate Horsemen

SEELEY LAKE – The Blackhawks hosted the Plains Horsemen Sept. 3 for their first home game of the season.

The Horsemen kicked off the game with an onside kick. Their attempt to recover the ball failed and the Blackhawks' offense took over at midfield. A play later, Owen Hoag was in for the touchdown putting the Blackhawks up six.

The Blackhawks' defenders had the ball back after a deep kickoff and a bobbled snap by the Horsemen led to a safety, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

The offense marched the ball back down the field for the Blackhawks' second touchdown. This time it would be Walker McDonald who took it into the end zone on a short run followed by Hoag with the two-point conversion.

The Blackhawks put in another touchdown before the end of the first quarter making it 22-0. They doubled their score in the second quarter to 44-0.

With a running clock, the second half of the game blew by. The Blackhawks extended their lead to 58-0 by the final buzzer.

Three Blackhawks scored touchdowns with McDonald taking in three and Hoag and Cannon Hawkinson each taking in two.

Hoag also completed 7 of 9 attempted passes for 65 yards and rushed for another 106 yards. McDonald received three of Hoag's passes for 47 yards.

Brice Hawkinson, C. Hawkinson and McDonald each had two sacks while C. Hawkinson led with 5 solo and 2 assisted tackles.

The Blackhawks have a bye this week and then face Troy on the road Sept. 17 with kickoff at 7 p.m.
