Crooks fire takes off

ARLEE - The Crooks fire (https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7759/) located 10 miles east of Arlee on Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribal Lands, experienced significant growth Monday afternoon and evening. The plume could be seen from Highways 83, 200 and 90. Seeley Lake District Ranger Quinn Carver said the fire is growing into old burn scars from the Liberty fire of 2017 and Jocko Lakes fire of 2007. As of 5 p.m. Monday it is still 10 miles from the tribe's boundary around Jocko Lakes. The Seeley Lake Ranger District currently has two engines helping on the fire and Montana DNRC is also actively working with the CSKT Division of Fire on suppression efforts.
