Mind over what matters

Often I find that our human nature is at war with our spiritual nature (God's plans and desires for us). Galatians 5 beginning in verse 17, offers a picture of that struggle.  In Romans 12:2  Paul says, "Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will."

All too often, I find Christians try to replace the Word of God with some reasoning of their own (some thinking which aligns with some sort of "personal theology"). I have often found it is more profitable to align my thinking with God than to attempt to align His thinking with my own.

People who argue against the inerrancy of Scripture are most apt to fall into this trap. For once we open the door to the possibility of error, we destroy the very foundation of our faith. What then do we trust? We are left free to create our own theology. But at what risk?

At the risk of our very soul!

God's word is either true or it is not. An omnipotent God does not leave us a choice of choosing our own pathway to heaven. Indeed, he has given us a free will to choose to either believe Him or not to believe Him.

Jesus said. "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, but through me," John 14:6.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life," John 3:16.

James 1:6 reminds us, " When you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."

Choose for yourselves...but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord, Joshua 24:15.
