Selling signs with amusing sayings

Seeley Lake Market Spotlight

SEELEY LAKE - Annie Micklitz helps her husband Jeff sell his custom made slogan signs every Sunday at Seeley Lake Market.

Annie said Jeff makes his signs in his woodshop from trees or reclaimed pallet wood from their property. Some of his products are hand painted while others are stenciled on with custom stencils.

This is their fourth year selling the signs at the market. The couple has lived in Seeley for around six years having moved from Wisconsin following Jeff's retirement.

"He's always had an interest in [sign making]. He just [thought] it would be something fun to do after retirement and so he just started making them," she said. "And there was actually quite an interest in them... So when the market was here, he just talked to the people that were at the market and thought that it might be a good idea. And it's been very well received."

According to Annie, most of their popular pieces are wildlife-themed or related to the outdoors. Her favorite aspect of selling the pieces has been seeing other residents repeatedly.

"[I love] meeting new people [and] just getting together with the community, which is important to Seeley Lake," she said.

Outside of the market Jeff does custom signs for patrons. He also works with stained glass. To request a custom piece email jmicklitz@att.net.
