Hot rod group holds car show in Seeley on Fourth

SEELEY LAKE - The Glacier Street Rod Association will have multiple cars on display outside the Seeley Lake Fire Station during the Seeley Lake Fire Foundation's annual Fourth of July pancake breakfast from 7-11:30 a.m.

Association President Rob Eickert said the non-profit group, which is based out of Kalispell, will celebrate their 40th anniversary this year. They currently have 56 members. Their overarching goal is to promote car safety and host display events for special interest vehicle enthusiasts.

"It's a way for people with like-minded interests to gain more knowledge and to gain safety aspects of vehicles and what they can and can't do," Eickert said.

The group holds various fundraiser events throughout the year where they gather donations through entrance and membership fees and then donate the funds to local charities at the end of the year. There will be no entrance fee for this event.

Eickert expects there to be four to eight vehicles present on the Fourth Including a 1970 Dodge Charger, a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle and a 1939 Ford Rat Rod Pickup. Most of their members' cars are customized in some way with a range of modifications.

"Every car has a little bit something different to it," he said. "If you're looking at something from 60-70 years ago, you will see that each individual owner, each individual builder, views that car differently."

Eickert believes this is the first time in 20 years that the group is holding an event in Seeley Lake. The Fire Foundation invited them to have a show during the Pancake Breakfast. With several Department members including the Chief having a love for cars, Department Captain John Homen thought it would be a great attraction with the breakfast.

Homen said, "I'm excited to see what cars they bring."
