Get it done - Support the BCSA

Everyone in Montana uses our outdoors but not everyone has the same vision for how to manage it. Do we want forest restoration or recreation areas for snowmobiling? Sometimes what’s best for an angler isn’t what’s best for a backcountry skier or the timber industry or for environmental health. Every stakeholder has a unique vision on how to protect our public lands.

That’s the beauty of the Blackfoot Clearwater Stewardship Project. The BCSA was originally conceived in a 2005 agreement between snowmobilers and wildlife conservationists, two groups who typically want nothing to do with each other, brought before Congress by Senator Jon Tester. Since then, we’ve seen just about everyone throw their hat in. We have hunters and anglers, outfitters, cyclists, conservationists, even the timber industry all standing side-by-side to support the BCSA. This is the definition of a win-win.

Incorporating the headwaters acreage of the Blackfoot River into the Blackfoot, Scapegoat and Mission Mountain Wilderness areas will provide the same kind of protections the neighboring regions receive.

This proposal is 15 years in the making and it’s time to get it done. Go to http://blackfootclearwater.org/ and fill out their form to show your support for the BCSA.
