Prescribe burn complete adjacent to Double Arrow

The 130-acre prescribed burn southeast of Seeley Lake as seen from Double Arrow Lookout May 17.

Seeley Lake Ranger District completed a 130-acre prescribed burn Monday, May 17 in the Horseshoe Hills area located approximately three miles southeast of Seeley Lake and Double Arrow Ranch. Five engines and 34 firefighters from the Seeley Lake and Missoula Ranger Districts and Montana Department of Natural Resources conducted the burn to help reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to private property and improve wildlife habitat. District Ranger Quinn Carver said they had good consumption of slash and pockets of heavy fuel in the interior of the burn. The entire unit is surrounded by roads. Firef...
