Seeley-Swan Girls win KLH Memorial Meet

MISSOULA - The Seeley-Swan Girls track team took first place at the Kim L. Haines Memorial Track Meet May 8 with 90 points ahead of Broadwater in second place with 71 points. The top honors on the Boy's side went to Big Fork with 100 points while Seeley-Swan's Boys took fourth at the meet with 58 points.

Sariah Maughan led the Girls on the track securing points with first place finishes in the 400-meter and 800-meter. Emily Maughan took second in the 200-meter with a personal record of 27.84 seconds and third in the 100-meter.

The Girls relay teams took first place in both the 4X100-meter and 4X400-meter races with times of 58.03 and 4:13.33.

In the field events, Klaire Kovatch earned first place in the Shot Put and Discus while Emily placed second in the Long Jump and Kyla Conley took third in the High Jump.

Sawyer Shelmerdine brought home the Boy's only first place on the track with a victory in the 800-meter. He also earned points and set a new personal record of 4:53.32 with a fifth place finish in the 1600-meter.

Owen Hoag took third in the 100-meter and set a new personal record in the 200-meter with a time of 23.19 earning him second place.

The Boys' relay teams inched closer to the state qualifying standards both the 4X100-meter and 4X400-meter races. They completed the short relay in 45.80 seconds, just .35 short of qualifying. They missed qualifying in the long relay by just 0.78 completing the race in 3:38.00.

In the field events Walker McDonald took first place in the Discus and third in the Shot Put. Eric Lorentz took fourth in the Shot Put.

This week Seeley-Swan is back in Missoula May 14 and 15 for the 13-C District meet.
