Seeley-Swan teams place in the top five

FRENCHTOWN - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawk competed against 20 Class A, B and C teams at the Frenchtown Invitational April 9. The Lady Blackhawks finished in second with 74 points behind Beaverhead County with 93 points. The Boys finished up in fifth with 45 points behind Beaverhead County with 54 points while Hamilton took the top spot with 65.5 points.

Sariah Maughan lead the Lady Blackhawks on the track taking first place in the 400, 800 and 1600-meter events. Her time of 5:28.48 in the 1600-meter qualified her for state. Emily Maughan followed Sariah across the line in the 400-meter taking second place. Klaire earned fourth in the 200-meter crossing the line in 28.48.

Sariah, Emily, Kyla Conley and Klaire Kovatch took first place in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:16.13. The 4x100 relay team of Sariah, Emily, Klaire and Trista Alexander took third with a time of 53.32.

In the field events Klaire won the Discus with a throw of 155 feet 9 inches while Emily took third in the Long Jump with her new personal record of 15 feet 5. Inches.

On the Boys side, Owen Hoag won the 400-meter with a time of 50.56. Owen took third in the 200-meter with a time of 23.98 while Sawyer Shelmerdine took fourth in the 800 finishing in 2:09.27. Chase Haines set a new personal record of 45.65 and took fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Boys 4x400 relay team of Owen, Sawyer, Chase, Klayton Kovatch earned third place finishing in 3:42.62. The four also ran the 4x400 relay and took sixth.

Walker McDonald won the discus and set a new personal record with a throw of 151-02. He also took fourth in the shot put throwing 45-11.

This week the team competed at the Darby-Florence Invite in Corvallis Tuesday, April 13. They return to Frenchtown for the Bronc Open Friday, April 16.
