Join with the team and keep neighbors fed and safe

A Note from Linda...

Thank you to all in the Seeley Lake community who have supported our local Meals on Wheels (MOW) program over the years. This March we are once again launching March for Meals, a month-long campaign to raise vital funds to support Meals on Wheels in Seeley Lake.

This year's Seeley Lake March for Meals is more important than ever because the need in our community has increased significantly. MOW clients In Seeley Lake have more than doubled from approximately eight to 18 and are homebound for a variety of reasons. Some have just returned home from a stay in the hospital and are recovering from surgery. This year, some are recovering from COVID-19. Many are no longer able to drive, grocery shop or cook at this time in their lives. The single meal delivered often suffices as both lunch and dinner.

Also, this year due to COVID restrictions, the Seeley Lake Senior Center (SLSC) could not operate its two traditional fundraising events, the Hunter's Breakfast in October and St. Patrick's Day Dinner in March. Currently the Senior Center must subsidize nutrition by over $600 per month to cover the cost of meals.

Especially with the increased need, Seeley Lake Meals on Wheels is a team effort. We are thankful for everyone at SLSC who help make Seeley Lake's Meals on Wheels program possible: our head cook Hope Lewis, assistant cook Sally Johnson, the Center's administrative staff, and all the volunteer drivers who have been braving the winter snows to make deliveries Monday through Friday each week.

This March we invite you to join our team and make a positive impact to help older adults in our community. You can help the most vulnerable in Seeley Lake continue to stay safe and well fed. Join the March for Meals (even though we cannot hear the band together this year)!

Money raised goes to the Seeley Lake Senior Center to pay for meals. We will not be out asking for donations in person this year, but this is how you can donate:

1. Mail your check payable to Missoula Aging Services (with Seeley Lake written on memorandum line) directly to: Missoula Aging Services, 337 Stephens Ave., Missoula, MT 59801

2. Donate on the phone by calling Missoula Aging Services at (406) 728-7682 and saying you would like to make a credit card donation for Seeley Lake March for Meals. You will be connected to a staff member dedicated to take donations for Seeley Lake.

3. Online by going to the Seeley Lake Donation Page: https://missoulaagingservices.org/seeleym4m.html

4. Pick-up a donation form at SLSC between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Monday through Friday.

I wish you the very best of health in 2021 and thank you in advance for your March for Meals donations!

Sincerely, Linda
