Faith that works through love

Passages

Do you desire more faith? We can have it by developing a loving relationship with our Lord. It is a personal connection with someone of good character that causes us to have faith. Well, our heavenly Father has perfect character and He already loves us. Does it not make sense to exercise the "measure of faith" that we already have and let it grow? Faith, like a muscle, grows when it is exercised. As faith grows, the more of God's love we receive.

This is expressed in one sentence in Galatians 5:6 that states, "Faith works through love." Faith is a verb; it is active; it involves us with God and works through the communication that comes out of a loving relationship. If we want more faith, we must allow it to "work" through a loving relationship with our heavenly Father through Christ Jesus.

Here is the personal witness of Paul from Romans 8:38-39: "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

God's love for him became so real that Paul could make the previous statement which has helped millions to know that they can experience God's love every minute of every hour of every day. With the sure knowledge that nothing can ever separate us from the love of God, we can enter into an ever-increasing faith.

The question, then, is, "Is an ever-increasing faith the way to revival?" The answer is a resounding, "YES!"

But we must first receive His love. Out of this exchange of love we are seeking a personal, loving relationship with the One who created us, died for us and loves us so. We then can have fellowship and friendship with God through Jesus Christ.

Once a friend of God, how could anyone fall away and fail to trust Him more and more? The result is a faith that increases as we exercise the "measure of faith" that the Scripture says God has already given us. Remember that "there is faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is love" (1 Cor. 13:13). It is the love of God that carries faith to completion.

Because "faith works through love," it follows that the more love we have for God, the more faith we will exercise. A life that has that kind of love and faith has not only the hope of revival, but also the hope of continuous victory in the Christian life. This is the way to be all our heavenly Father wants us to be in this life and the life to come. May God increase our love for Him, each other, and to reach others who are lost and dying in their sin.

Pray for a true revival to breakout across our nation and world.
