Swan Song
I pack no provisions for my long journey – entering emptiness under the midnight moon. Chinese Sage
Swan Valley - Thomas entered this life in post-World War II Germany on a leap year day. His parents, Anton and Ella Mueller, immigrated to California when Thomas was a young boy. Thomas's father passed away in 2003 and his mother passed away in 2012. He is survived by his sister Angella Mueller Sawyer and many dear friends.
Thomas discovered a passion for art at an early age, following it into study at college and throughout his adulthood. Thomas also enjoyed teaching children to draw. Thomas's talents were employed by the San Francisco Opera Company and numerous Hollywood productions in set designs. One of Thomas's treasured memories was meeting Robin Williams while working on the movie "Patch Adams". Later in life, Thomas returned to Montana to care for his elderly parents.
Eventually settling near Condon in the Swan Valley, Thomas appreciated the beauty and quiet of his peaceful homestead with his three pets Critter #1, Critter #2 and Critter #3 (two cats and a dog Thomas rescued). He continued producing paintings and sketches reflecting his love of the outdoors, Native American culture and the many powwows he attended over the years. He gave away many pieces of art in gratitude of friendships and the kindness of others. Many other examples of his works hang in businesses and health care professional offices in Kalispell. One of his larger paintings is displayed in the Bozeman Senior Center which he donated to honor his parents.
Thomas will be remembered by many close friends for generosity, integrity and his quirky humor. His long battle with cancer ended at his mountain home on Dec. 7, 2020. Sadly, we all will miss him very much. His presence made a huge positive difference in the world around him, especially for those who were close to Thomas and knew him well. His generous heart will be missed. Happy Trails Partner!!!
