Lady Blackhawks dominate Tigers, down Prospectors

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks added a pair of wins to their record last week decimating the Darby Tigers on the road Jan. 15 and defeating the Granite Prospectors on their home court Jan. 16.

The Lady Blackhawks showed no mercy to the Tigers scoring more than enough points in the first quarter to win the game. But the Lady Blackhawks didn't stop there. They added another 27 points in the second quarter to lead 60-13 going into the second half. The final score was 79-27.

Nearly all the Lady Blackhawks scored with Emily Maughan and Klaire Kovatch leading the way scoring 19 and 18 points respectively.

Six Lady Blackhawks scored three-pointers with Aspen Conley hitting a pair. The Lady Blackhawks were on from the free throw line as well hitting 6 of 7 with Klaire and Trista Wendel shooting 100 percent.

Also scoring: Sariah Maughan 8, Bethany Hoag 7, Aspen 6, Trista 6, Dani Sexton 5, Teagan Mauldin 3, Rose Mercer 3, Hannah Ayers 2 and Mia Saalfeld 2.

The Lady Blackhawks met a little stiffer competition as they faced the Prospectors. The found themselves trailing 2-8 five minutes into the game. However, they hit four unanswered baskets to take the lead. The teams traded shots back and fourth in the second quarter until the closing minutes of the half when the Lady Blackhawks pulled a couple baskets ahead.

The Lady Blackhawks came out strong in the second half and never looked back defeating the Prospectors 69-42.

Sariah led the Lady Blackhawks with 24 points followed by Emily with 18.

This week the Lady Blackhawks host Lincoln Jan. 22 for a Varsity game starting at 5 p.m.
