Medicare's Open Enrollment in full swing

We are now in Medicare's Annual Open Enrollment Period, Oct. 15 – Dec. 7. It is time to think about your Medicare coverage for 2021.

Open enrollment is when Medicare beneficiaries should review either their Part D, prescription drug plan (PDP) coverage or Medicare Advantage plan (MA) coverage and make any changes for 2021, effective Jan. 1, 2021.

This year there are 28 Part D, prescription drug plans (PDP) to choose from with premiums ranging from $7.30/month up to $104.70/month and deductibles from $0 up to $445 per year.

The Part D (PDP) available are: SilverScript SmartRx (PDP), Clear Spring Health Premier Rx (PDP), WellCare Wellness Rx (PDP), WellCare Value Script (PDP), Humana Walmart Value Rx Plan (PDP), Cigna Secure-Essential Rx (PDP), Mutual of Omaha Rx Premier (PDP), WellCare Medicare Rx Select (PDP), Express Scripts Medicare - Saver (PDP), WellCare Classic (PDP), Clear Spring Health Value Rx (PDP), AARP MedicareRx Saver Plus (PDP), Cigna Secure Rx (PDP), SilverScript Choice (PDP), Humana Basic Rx Plan (PDP), AARP MedicareRx Walgreens (PDP), WellCare Medicare Rx Saver (PDP), Cigna Secure-Extra Rx (PDP), Express Scripts Medicare - Value (PDP), Elixir RxPlus (PDP), Humana Premier Rx Plan (PDP), MedicareBlue Rx Standard (PDP), SilverScript Plus (PDP)'Mutual of Omaha Rx Plus (PDP), WellCare Medicare Rx Value Plus (PDP), Express Scripts Medicare - Choice (PDP), AARP MedicareRx Preferred (PDP) and MedicareBlue Rx Premier (PDP).

There are 11 Medicare Advantage plans (MA) available with monthly premiums ranging from $0 to $131 per month. Plans including both health and drug coverage and those with only health coverage and Maximum-Out-Of-Pocket costs from $3900 In-network to $10,000 if you go out of network.

The Medicare Advantage plans (MA) available are: Humana Honor (PPO), HumanaChoice H5216-255 (PPO), PacificSource Medicare Explorer 16 (PPO), Lasso Healthcare Growth (MSA), Lasso Healthcare Growth Plus (MSA), AARP Medicare Advantage Choice (PPO), Humana Gold Plus H6622-007 (HMO), Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Classic (PPO), PacificSource Medicare Explorer Rx 17 (PPO), HumanaChoice H5525-027 (PPO) and Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Optimum (PPO).

Where can I get help comparing Medicare Advantage (MA) or Part D plans (PDP)? Go to, Medicare.gov. Find a 2021 Medicare plan at: medicare.gov/plan-compare

You can go online and use the Log in or Create Account to get started. After you create an account, use the Find Plans prompt to find health and drug plans. Be sure that you are comparing the correct year plans for Medicare Open Enrollment! It should say 2021 plans.
