Tricks and Treats sweeten Tamaracks

SEELEY LAKE – "I've got so much candy," yelled one of the smiling trick-or-treaters to their parent as they left the Tamaracks Resort Tricks and Treats event Oct. 31. Candy wasn't the only thing children of all ages enjoyed – there was a selfie station, corn hole game, music and campfires. CLB Landworks won the "Best Cabin Award" selected by the attendees.

The Tamaracks Resort welcomed the community businesses and individuals to sponsor a cabin for the evening, decorate it and hand out pre-wrapped candy to attendees. Four businesses and six individuals including guests at the resort participated making a 10-cabin loop for trick-or-treaters.

"We had so much fun," said Tera Wold, Tamaracks events coordinator. "I'm just baffled by how many people showed up."

When the event started at 6 p.m., Tamaracks had 375 full sized candy bars to give away to children in costume. Wold said each child brought one to three adults with him or her, many of which were in costume. The event started winding down about 8:30 p.m. and by 9 p.m. the Tamaracks was out of candy bars.

"I think it was a perfect storm with the perfect weather, on the weekend and people just needing to get out. Everyone came together and had a great time," said Wold who couldn't believe how many people came. "This was our first annual and I just can't wait until next year."

Attendees were given a map of the participating cabins and a card to vote for their favorite business cabin for the "Best Cabin Award." Wold said CLB Landworks won by a landslide with their lit blowups, creepy crawlers and other fun decorations. They received an Amazon gift card, certificate and will keep the traveling trophy until next year when it will be up for grabs again.

Tamaracks is already planning the event for next year. They hope to fill all 17 cabins and offer a haunted pathway and other fun activities at the resort. Those interested in reserving a cabin or participating next year are encouraged to reach out to Wold via email tamaracksevents@gmail.com or call the Resort 406-677-2433.

"Thanks to everyone who sponsored a cabin and to everyone who came," said Wold. "The community involvement was amazing."
