Harvest your writing talent with fall writing classes

MISSOULA - The Missoula Writing Collaborative announces online writing classes in prose, poetry and how to create a writing practice for adult learners. These classes will feature writers from the Missoula Writing Collaborative including Dana Fitz Gale, Mark Gibbons and Rebecca Carson.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, five, two-hour classes will be featured, starting at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. On Nov. 11, two, four-week classes in fiction and building a writing practice will kick off.

Prices begin at $26 per class for students and seniors and $32 for the general public; $140 and $160 for four-week classes. Register at missoulawritingcollaborative.submittable.com/

Hospital District meeting to be held via conference call

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley Lake-Swan Valley Hospital District’s November board meeting will be held via conference call Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. The public is welcome to call in to participate in the meeting. Comments being accepted on FWP commercial fee schedules

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is accepting comment on the proposed commercial use fee schedule for fishing access sites and wildlife management areas. The Fish and Wildlife Commission set this fee schedule on a biennial basis. The new fee schedule will be effective from Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2022.

The fee schedule lists the cost of permits for a variety of commercial uses, such as photography, guide services, concessions and livery services. The administrative rules that govern the commercial use activities found in this fee schedule can be found at ARM 12.14.101-170.

No changes are being proposed to the fee schedule for 2021/2022. Public comment on the proposed rule will be taken until Nov. 27. Comments can be provided to FWPfsh@mt.gov or FWP, P.O. Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620. A final decision will be made at the December 2020 Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting.

Weekly COVID-19 update

As of Nov. 2, there are 34,252 cases of COVID-19 in Montana. There are 12,370 active cases, 1,373 total hospitalizations with 386 active, 21,496 recoveries and 386 deaths in Montana due to COVID-19 complications. Missoula County has had 2,484 cases, has 721 active cases with 32 currently hospitalized, 1,744 recovered and 21 COVID-related deaths. There are more than 1,335 identified close contacts in quarantine and isolation.
