Lady Blackhawks win on the road

The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks added a pair of wins to their record last week defeating Plains and the Clark Fork Co-op.

The Lady Blackhawks made quick work of Plains Oct. 15 putting them down in three games, 25-12, 25-9 and 25-19.

More than a third of the Lady Blackhawks’ points came from aces and kills. Dani Sexton and Jordan Johnson had 3 aces each while Klaire Kovatch and Sariah Maughan had 2 aces each.

Kovatch and Bethany Hoag had 5 kills each while Maughan had 4, Aspen Conley had 3 and Trista Wendel had 2. Johnson had 15 of the team’s 16 assists.

On the defense, the Lady Blackhawks had 7 blocks 30 digs. Kovatch had three blocks while Maughan and Hoag had 2 each. Kovatch led in digs with 8 followed by Sexton and Maughan with 5 each.

Two days later the Lady Blackhawks were back in action taking on the Mountain Cats of the Clark Fork Co-op. The Cats fell in four games, 25-22, 25-19, 20-25 and 25-15.

The Cats didn’t go down easy however, the Lady Blackhawks had a whopping 71 digs. Hoag, Sexton, Kovatch, Wendel and Maughan all had 10 or more digs in the match.

The Lady Blackhawks also scored big in serving. They had 22 aces with Wendel and Sexton scoring 5 each followed by Johnson and Kovatch with 4 each.

Kovatch and Maughan led in kills with 12 and 11 respectively while Kovatch had 4 of the team’s 6 blocks.

This week the Lady Blackhawks head to Lincoln Oct. 20, Philipsburg Oct. 21 and then host Valley Christian Oct. 22. Check the Seeley-Swan High School Activities Facebook page for updates and live streaming of games.
